Zigadenus Lake is surrounded by Ptarmigan Peak, Pika Peak, and the Wall of Jericho in a stunning amphitheatre of rock and ice. Meltwater from a hanging glacier delivers large quantities of rock flour that gives the lake its distinctive turquoise color. The outflow tumbles down a waterfall into nearby Myosotis Lake, and then to the Pipestone River. Zigadenus is the genus name of the death camas wildflower.
