No adjective can adequately describe Lake Oesa. Perhaps the best testament to Oesa’s beauty is that it was the subject of numerous paintings by the Group of Seven’s J. E. H. MacDonald. The brilliant sapphire color is due to the combined effects of exceptional transparency and deep water (39 m maximum). The name Oesa comes from the Stoney word for ice, which typically lasts until early July.
