Moraine Lake is one of the most photographed lakes in the world, yet still needs to be seen to be believed. With the dramatic Valley of 10 Peaks as background, Moraine Lake graced the 1969 and 1979 issues of the Canadian $20 bill. Moraine is actually a misnomer. Walter Wilcox had assumed that the lake was formed by a glacial moraine from the Wenkchemna Glacier. However, the rockpile came from rock falls off the Tower of Babelthat that dammed the outflow.
