Based on data we’ve collected over the past 8 years, Lower Consolation Lake is one of the clearest lakes in the world (a title unofficially held by Blue Lake in New Zealand). Upper Consolation Lake is just upstream and flows into Lower through a subsurface connection. The trail to Lower Consolation is short and enjoyable, but getting to the lakeshore means crossing a boulder field (a fun but challenging proposition, particularly after a rainfall).
