Copper Lake is a only stone’s throw from the Trans Canada Highway near the Castle Mountain Junction (you can hear the traffic), yet few people know it is there. The lake is only 900 m from the Twin Lakes trailhead, making it an easy destination for even the most reluctant hiker. Because there is no inflow or outflow, water levels reflect groundwater in the Bow River Valley. Copper Lake is named for Copper Mountain, which is visible to the southeast from the lake.
